Population Growth and Economic Development

Since the 1850s up until the 1970s, farming was the primary activity of the population in Willow Spring. Aerial photographs of this area from before the 1980s are a sea of patchwork of plowed fields and pastures. Since the 1980s up until today the rural farm area is being slowly overtaken by housing developments. As each year passes by and the urban sprawl continues from the larger cities and towns to the north, it is probably safe to say that Willow Spring will develop more and more into residential developments and there will be less agriculture enterprises to be found.
